From the 1st April 2015, the practice is required under the terms of the latest GP contract to allocate all patients a named GP. This is purely an administrative exercise, and means that your named GP has responsibility for your overall care.

Your named GP is the doctor you are registered with. Having a named GP doesn’t prevent you seeing any other doctor in the practice.
